Asus tf300t not working with back cover. Crashing on contact

    Hello,

yesterday i replaced the lcd display of my tablet and it is working fine as long as I don't put the back cover on it.

The tablet just crashes when I put the cover on it. I also can reproduce the crash when I put pressure on the back in the top right corner where the heat sink plate is.
I marked the area in the image below.

Anybody ever seen that and knows a fix?

    Welcome

On the assumption that your screen was damaged in an accident, then I guess you have a micro fracture in the board that causes this to happen when any pressure is applied. Can't think of any sort of fix that doesn't revolve around swapping out hardware...

    thanks for the fast answer.

You are right with your assumption. Someone jumped on it when it was lying on the bed.
Before replacing the lcd I could start the tablet with the case on. So i might have damaged it during the replacement?

Will changing the mainboard fix that?

Best guess would be yes. Almost certainly.

But while J. is (as usual) correct, is this tablet worth replacing the MoBo? While I like my 300, it's still a slug compared to newer tablets, and its battery is not what it used to be. Your money might go better toward a down payment on a new(er) machine.

Ahhh, but that's the beauty! Because it is so old you can pick up a mobo or one for parts for a song!

I think it is not worth the extra 40 bucks to get a MoBo.

As long as I don't close the cover completely the Tablet doesn't crash, so I can use it just fine. Just gotta be a little careful but it is barely crashing.
Don't really want to buy a new one since I barely use it
