Factory Reset Won't Work
Hello, long time between visits. I have searched, but can't seem to find the same problem.
TF300T, running on 4.3.2
Trying to do a factory reset - when I get to the final prompt "erase all data", it turns blue to tell me it has been pressed, but does nothing else. Even if I hold down the erase button for an extended period, or press it multiple times.
In a possiblyrelated problem, the tablet won't power off. I hold the power button down until I get the four options, press power off and then it sits there, telling me it is powering off, but does not do so. Even if I give it many minutes.
If I force the restart (by holding power button down for 10 seconds), and before it gets to restart, I hold the Vol Down and Power Buttons down, I get to the RCK screen, but cannot choose between the three options. Holding the Power Up button from here gets me to the Android figure with belly open, but then goes to "Data Error" and red alert triangle. I then have to do the restart and goes back to normal tablet operations - which would bring me back to the top of my post......
Any ideas, suggestions?
TIA
Australia.

Try the Factory Reset from settings.

Yep. That's the bit that gives me a "erase all data" button turning blue to tell me it has been pressed, but does nothing else. Even if I hold down the erase button for an extended period, or press it multiple times.
That was my first option, which didn't work. The second option is made that much harder by the tablet declining to shut down.

In which case, try it from the hardware key combination (see the Factory Reset thread, linked from the Master Help Guide.)

And if you can't get that to work, download the latest firmware file from Asus, unzip it ONCE to get another .zip, and put it on a microSD card (root directory please). Put that in the tablet and then force it to recovery as you outlined above, recovery should find and flash the firmware. Then unlock the tablet and install a custom recovery (TWRP recommended), it'll make situations like this much easier to deal with. It'll also allow you to install a custom ROM which will likely much improve your performance. But that's for another day.
