Exclamation Google "Acct. Action Required" Asus Gmail "Couldn't sign in"

    Hi Folks,

I've tried searching for existing threads for my prob, but not seeing what I need. For the past several weeks now, I can't access my primary gmail account via Asus gmail on my TF300T. It started with a google "Invalid username or password" message. I tried re-entering the password I use from my desktop a couple times, no help. I uninstalled Google+ after seeing somewhere that this could be the prob..no help. I set up an App specific password for the Asus from my desktop but that didn't work either. This morning I deleted the Asus gmail account and tried re-adding but it STILL said "Couldn't finish..username or password incorrect". I have 2 other gmail accounts set up in the tablet - one is my wife's - and I have my Charter account set up too, there is no prob with any of these. I am tearing my hair out.. going away for the weekend tomorrow and really need email access. Hope someone can help. I'm not much of a techie.. step by step works best for me. Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forum

The only thing that comes to mind that you might try is if you have a second browser on your desktop that has not accessed that account see if you can use it to log in.

Can you access gmail on your tf from the website? Did you set up that 2 step authentication? If so in enable that.
Did you delete the account from the app or the settings menu of the tf? If the app..try removing the account from settings/accounts/google

I killed 2-step after seeing somewhere that that can cause my prob.. like a bug in gmail, but no help. I did delete the account from Settings, not the App.

Sorry, I'm not understanding what you mean by "from the website."

Frenzied means from "Gmail.com" I think, rather than the gmail app.

Oops. Not good. Your account may have been compromised. But that would explain why it isn't working. Google, at some point, should have asked you to input a secondary contact number in case something like this were to happen. Hopefully you used that feature. Unless you can get logged in on the WEB side it will not work on the tablet.

Thank you leeshor. I do have my cell set up for such notifications, but haven't heard anything from Google. So, I guess I'll log in to my gmail from my desktop and do a password change (again..) What, if anything, should I do on my tablet prior to making that change to avoid this problem. My sense is that there are certain steps that must be done in the correct sequence in order for this to work. No? btw I REALLY appreciate your, and everyone else who has weighed in on this, time and courtesy. I just turned 65 and am beginning to feel as though I could use some remedial instruction on using more than one device to access the Internet! Thanks once again.

I would do the password change on the WEB site then remove the account on your TF - restart then add it back in using the new password and wing it from there. You may get a text message or possibly even a phone call from Google for confirmation.
