    [ SOLVED ] TF300T Won't Firmware Update!

    Hello I have tf300t
    with 4.0.3 Android OS
I am having trouble updating the OS to the latest one.

The easiest way to do it via the settings---->firmware updater did not work (It keeps saying that there is no update curently) witch is total BS because I can see on Asus website the new update files. ;D

The method of using SD card and unzipping the file ( my Build number is with WW) also failed because once I insert the SDcard nothing happens.(formated to fat32)

I also tried to use "recovery mode" with power button and volume DOWN key then Volume UP key but all I get is the "dead android symbol lying on the floor" lol !! D

    Can someone help me?

Welcome to the forum. The procedure outlined in the Master Help Guide should work. It has been used many times by members of this forum. What you want to do is manually update the firmware. Be sure you download the correct one for your device and follow the instructions.

And before you give up on the automatic update from settings, try this...
Settings, apps, all - find CMclient & DMclient (two apps)
For both of them - clear cache, clear data, force close
Then cold boot your TF300 (see the link in my signature if you are not sure what that means - it is not just a simple power cycle)
When your TF300 has restarted, go into settings and try checking for an update again.

If that doesn't work (& it does 9 times out of 10), then as Swipe commented, the manual updating guides will work - but they must be followed exactly.

    All the best

    Hello guys,
thank you for a fast reply,
sadly neither of the methods worked.
Clearing DM and CM client and cold start did not help. "Updater now just says no internet connection or the update server is busy". (My internet is working)

    Manual update did not work too;
1.Formated the SD Micro card to FAT32
    2. Downloaded the FirmwareUpdate WW and extracted to root of SD Micro. (its still a zip file in the card)

    3. Inserted the card but no notification appeared except the usuall "preparing external storage".
    4. Tried to insert the SD CARD and re-boot normaly and NOTHING
5.Tried to clear cashe and force stop DM CM and COOLD START and then insert card... NOTHING

    Any other suggestions guys?

You need to unzip the file once. There is a zip file within a zip file. For some reason Asus decided to confuse people by double zipping the file.

Edit: it looks like you did do that.

What is the name of the file when. You place it on the tablet?

You might try first downloading a 4.1 firmware (of they are still available) then upgrade from there.

Ok, I think this is where the confusion is...
There are two ways to manually flash the firmware:

    A) Unzip the downloaded firmware once and copy the resulting zip into the root of the internal SD
Reboot normally and the system should recognize the firmware, give you a notification about an update being available. You confirm it, the recovery starts and flashes it.

    B) Unzip the firmware once and rename the resulting file to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip. Put hat file into the root of a fat32 formatted microSD
Boot to recovery with Power and Volume Down, then push Volume Up on the flashing RCK icon. The recovery will start and should recognize the zip file on the card.

Let's see if that does it :fingerscrossed:

Does it also work for those update files like "ASUS Transformer Pad Kernel Code for Android 4.2 JB"? - what does this update do?

Aeehhmmm - I believe that is the source code for the kernel - not a flashable file. You cannot flash a kernel on a stock system. It's part of the rom. On an unlocked tablet with a custom recovery you can flash different kernels (including wrong ones....), but not on stock.
    Glad you got it working
