    TF300T Battery & reset problems

My TF300 is just over a year old. Since the last update it has refused to charge. I noticed this at 20% battery. I tried thetrickle charge and factory resets etc, but to no avail. Now its completly dead. When doing the resets I got as a fare as a dead android but no further. At a complete loss now, and the wife wants an ipad. Any suggestions would be great.

    Welcome to the forum

If by trickle charge you mean that you plugged it into a running computer for 5-7 hours then it's possibly a cable problem. Just maybe. Is there a store near you that has a display with Transformers? You could try their charger.

As an aside a customer of mine had his iPhone die last week so he replaced it with a Samsung Galaxy S4, today his iPad failed. He will not be replacing it with another iPad. Bad luck turned out pretty good in his mind.

    Welcome to the forum

I added some detail to your thread title for you which might get some further assistance.

The sort of situation you describe can be tricky to advise on as it looks as if there is more than one thing going on. As Leeshor says, trying a different cable and/or charger would be one step, together with a trickle charge. When it comes to the firmware issue you have, then you could try to manually flash the firmware again, maybe even rollback to an earlier version.

In the Master Help Guide (see link in signature) you will find a few guides which relate directly to your situation. They are -
The definitive guide to battery related matters & two guides on manually flashing firmware.

Hope that helps you get on your way.

    Thanks for replies.

I have a new genuine charger and cable and that made no difference. Without power is it possible to re flash the firmware? Its as dead as a doe doe now. If I buy a replacement battery does it come charged so I could attemt a reflash?

If your battery is dead, and you have tried the trickle charge - that is the tablet only connected via the charging cable to a powered on & not sleeping PC USB port for 8-10 hours - then the only other course of action I can think of, is to dismantle your tablet carefully and check to ensure that everything is connected properly - even disconnecting & reconnecting the battery and then re-trying the trickle charge would be an idea.

If you are still left with a dead battery, then you'ld have to open it up anyway if you decide to try & change it.

All this dismantling can be risky, of course, so be very gentle and read up on the process first or watch some YouTube videos would be my suggestion. "Forewarned is forearmed" as the old saying goes.
