Restoring apps from google play after factory reset

    Hi all,

I just did a factory reset of my TF300 (in order to try to get rid of the battery drain problem that I have since Jelly Bean). When I started up it tried to download all apps from Google Play again but this failed due to networking issues. Now those issues are fixed but I can't seem to find how I can let google play restore the apps again? I don't want to manually restore every app as I had a lot. How can I let my transformer do this update automatically?

    Thanks!

Restoring the apps a few at a time is a better idea, however if you go to the Play app and tap the 3 icons top right there is a setting so auto update the apps.

Why is restoring apps a few at a time a better idea? Also how do you actually do that? The apps are already marked as 'installed' if I go look at google play on my computer. I see no option to force them to be reinstalled there.

I can't see those 3 icons you're talking about in the play app?

    Greetings,

First things first. Installing a lot of apps all at one time has a tendency to gum up the works. My strong recommendation is that you install four or five then restart, then install four or five more.

Where I'm talking about going for the updates is in the play store on your Transformer, not on your computer. The three icons should be in the upper right corner of the app. In settings there is an auto update setting. If you told your Transformer to sync with Google when you set it back up after the reset the apps should all be in your app drawer after they've had a chance to install. The app drawer is accessed by tapping the six little squares in the upper right corner of your screen.

Just a quick question, but when backing up apps in ASUS app backup included on the transformers I have the option to save the data only or both app and data. I have always done app and data just to be safe. What happens if I only save data and restore that? Does android recognise the data and install the app automatically with it? I have never had any of the apps being installed automatically download from Google Play after a reset besides Asus and Google ones found on the tablet already
-I apologize for any spelng mistakes made as a result of the keybord-

AFAIK, you would have to install the app first & then restore the data.

Backing up the app &/or data together is really designed to keep an app (or older version of an app) that might not be on the Play Store any longer.

So I don't need to backup both unless I have an app installed from an app like flash?

    Correct

And you will save on backup sizes, too

One additional note. Using the ASUS backup utility will also backup settings for some of the apps which may save you some time.

    Greetings,
On your tablet .. tap the playstore app, top right corner 3 dots beside the magnifying glass, tap the dots, tap my apps, swipe once right to left, will say ALL on top. These are all the apps that you have ever downloaded or purchased from google playstore. Scroll to the one you want to install and install it. You will not need to repurchase a app you have already paid for.
