[SOLVED] Another Tf300 that won't charge

Hi, okay, I signed up on the forums to ask about this, because I cannot find anyone else yet with this problem. My Transformer, which I've had over a year now, is refusing to charge. This happened once before because the USB cord had torn away, so I had to buy a new one. But there's nothing wrong with the USB as far as I can tell. I tested the wall adapter with my cell phone charger and it worked just fine as well, so that cannot be the problem. Also, the battery did run down to 0% when it last died. I realize now that was a mistake. I also have never used and do not own the keyboard dock.
Here's the oddest part. Whenever I plug the tablet into the USB, (or hold down the power button) it turns on, loads up, and shows the lock screen. The battery symbol at the bottom is an empty battery with a red exclamation point, and the name of the wireless network appears for a moment before disappearing. It then turns off and stays off until I either plug the USB in again or hold down the power button until it turns on. As I've said, it is a relatively old tablet, and it wouldn't be surprising if the battery is just worn out.
I haven't been able to find any other thread detailing this, so I'm asking myself. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Welcome, booker15366.

The most common fix is to plug the tablet, using the asus cable into the USB port of a running computer for 3-4 hours.

I tested the wall adapter with my cell phone charger and it worked just fine as well, so that cannot be the problem.
Regrettably this doesn't prove anything about the wall adapter other than the default 5 volt output is working fine - there could still be a problem with the circuitry that detects the presence of a Transformer and ups the output voltage to 15 volts, or it could be that the 15 volt output circuit has died and can no longer produce the required voltage even if a TF is detected.

However, from your description, it is most likely that MikeM's suggestion will sort you out - it's a fairly common issue with TFs that have been allowed to discharge to the point of shut off.

All right, I tried charging with my laptop for the past 3 hours, but I just checked and there has been no change to to situation. The tablet will not stay on for more than a few seconds and will not hold a charge, as far as I can see.

You may need to leave the tablet connected to a powered on PC USB port for 10 hours or more to see if it will trickle charge your battery back to a condition where it will accept a charge again.

Have a read through the charging/battery guide thread in the Master Help Guide (link below) while you wait - you'll see you are sadly not alone...

My guess is the battery will rejuvenate if you leave it connected to the trickle charge for long enough... Cross everything & hope for the best...

Hey, thanks to everyone for the help. I ran the trickle charge again for about 4 or 5 hours, and the battery went back up. I put it back to the wall adapter and it's charging again. Thank you all so much for the help.
