[SOLVED] Power Button Issues
Hi everyone,
I noticed a new problem with my tf300t.
Whenever I'm done using the tablet, I would close the lid and place it inside a 10" laptop sleeve. Lately I noticed that instead of sleeping, it powers off. I thought I turned it off by mistake but it has been happening ever since a week ago. I also noticed that the space where the power button is, is very sensitive that a light tap (not on the button) would already call the menu (Power Off / Airplane Mode / Silent mode). I'm afraid something is wrong with that area of the tablet because it wasn't that sensitive before and I was under the assumption that I have to press the button to get that menu.
Also, when you prolong it at that menu, does it automatically reset the tablet?
Thank you

It should take a tap to power off the screen, 3 second press to get to the shutdown menu, and a 10 second press to reboot.
If it is pulling up this menu without a 3 second press, sound like there may be an issue with the power button daughterboard, or the main board.

re: [SOLVED] Power Button Issues
Thank you!
Hmm then something must be definitely wrong with my unit as that menu shows up without me doing anything sometimes.
Also, it is rebooting at certain intervals (killing my game progress) and there's an app that's force closing at every start.
Should I send this back for repair? or maybe a factory reset can help?

The factory reset is not likely to solve the problem, but, if you send it back a factory reset is recommended to clear off any personal information, so you have nothing to lose.
Make sure you backup any data before doing the FR, apps will be available to redownload so you can optionally back them up.

re: [SOLVED] Power Button Issues
thank you. I have read in another thread about this issue and the solution they have was to send it back to asus for a replacement. I guess that's my only option. thank you again.

You should definitely call ASUS and arrange an RMA with them. I had the exact same problem and was reluctant to send it because I was told at the store I bought it at that it could potentially take 2 months (they were trying to sell me the extended warranty).
Asus service (in North America) is the most helpfull I have experienced (the person I talked to was not overseas). and I had my device back in perfect condition exactly 2 weeks after sending it.The repair only took a day.
This appears to be a common problem with te device model and makes it extremly difficult to use the dack because the pressure on the frame causes the tablet to constantly shut down.
Do not be afraid to send your device away, Asus support is great. I accidently disregarded the message about using a box to package it and sent it in a heavilly padded envelope instead and it was still repaired.

Thank you.
Looks like I'm not alone in this issue.
