Exclamation Weird Screen behaviour when keyboard docked, fine when not ? anyone seen this ?

Hi, my name is Paul. I am in Wales in the UK. I couple of months ago I purchased a TF300T. It upgraded itself to Android 4.1.1 about a month back.
Over the last few days, I have had some weird experiences with the screen behaviour. The lock sequence where you swipe a shape on a matrix of dots is not recognising my swipes properly. I have to disconnect the screen from the keyboard for it to work (finally worked that out after being locked out on a timeout several times for getting the screen matrix password wrong!)
Similarly when docked, the behaviour of swiping the screen left and right between desktops has peculiar results - just shuddering and not moving - or moving 2 desktop slides at one time. Undocking - it works fine.
If I go into settings - trying to scroll up & down, also the tablet makes moves & selections on its own !!!....If I undock I can scroll up & down fine.
There's something going on with the behaviour of the screen ONLY when its connected to the keyboard......very weird....Sometimes its fine but most of the time this behaviour is the default until I undock the keyboard.
it will have to go back under warranty unless I can find a software cause..... any help appreciated !

    Welcome to the forum Paul

In the Master Help Guide, linked from my signature, is a guide that covers how to update your device using OTA updates. This explains that the best thing to do when getting an update that includes an OS update is to Factory Reset your device, essentially wiping it and reinstalling the newest firmware that there is on the device. (Despite the name of the process, it doesn't put your device back onto ICS)

I recommend reading that thread & following it as it cures 99% of the sort of glitches that you describe.

Hi Paul, yes you will lose anything/everything that you've put onto the tablet--apps, music, vids, ebooks, notes etc. It is a factory reset, wipes your device. There is an app-backup, came supplied with the device. It's in the app drawer - 6 wee dots, top right corner of your home page. It will back up apps and data, you then copy your personal docs/vids/music etc onto an SD card and then factory reset.

As eejit says, yes you will, but the thread covers backing up too. You are likely to loose them if you contact Asus as the first thing to do prior to sending it back would be to Factory Reset - unless you want them to also have access to all your emails & personal data. They will also Factory Reset as a first fix as well - actually they will likely tell you to do it before they authorise any return.

Weird Screen behaviour when keyboard docked, fine when not ? anyone seen this ?

    Sounds like a hardware issue.

Try getting a drawing app and do some angled quick swipes to see if the are smooth/straight. It could be a digitizer issue.

    Something like this:

Asus Transformer 16 GB & Dock - Munching on Jelly Beans
    crApple iP*one 5 - Stock

Just once I want someone to call me Sir without adding you're making a scene.

    Oh bother

That's a shame - if Frederuco is correct (and he usually is) then as a hardware problem you are going to need to return it to Asus for a warranty repair unless you bought it from a good retailer. As you know, they are your first port of call in the UK as your contract is with them. Try to get them to do an exchange for you because if you have to return it to Asus for a warranty repair, then from the UK this will mean a return to the Czech Republic as that is where the Asus Service Centre is for the UK.

If your retailer cannot be prevailed upon to honour the presumption in UK law that a fault that shows up within the first 6 months is deemed to have been there from day 1 & therefore offer you a replacement, then you should take photos of your device prior to allowing it to be returned to Asus - carefully recording the condition of your device prior to return will give you evidence to use should your device arrive back with you with any damage caused while it was away - and yes, sadly that does happen.
