Special characters and ' key

Hi all,

About a week ago I bought aan Asus TF300 (3g). When docked, I tried to make special characters (such as é á etc) by typing ' e / ' a etc.
Unfortunately, the ' key seems to be not working at all. When I press it, nothing happens. I use ASUS Nederlands (Dutch) keyboard settings. When I switch it to Android Nederlands (Dutch), the ' key does work, but I am still unable to produce the requested special characters.

Funny thing is that my dad has the same tablet (except his one lacks 3G support), and that the ' works perfectly well with his tablet..

Has anyone any thoughts on this issue? The build number of my pad is JR003C.WW_epad-10.4.3.9-20121106.

Welcome to the forum, first thing to try would be a hard reset: power + volume down until white instructions appear on upper left of the screen...let go and let it boot!

Unfortunately this does not resolve the issue. I assume it to be software-related.

Hi Jellee, I'm not sure what the issue would be. Keyboard app-related? Have you tried another app?
Go Keyboard for instance, with the Dutch add-on.
I don't use GO, I just googled & it came up. Might be worth a shot.
Doesn't seem hardware related if your ' key is working.

He has got the TF300 and I have got the TF300TG. Presumably we have different firmwares. He told mis tablet received an update late last week. Mine hasn't received a new one since the 1106-update. It might have something to do with a bug in the firmware that is removed in the new version. If so, I am probably reliant on Asus and a firmware update.
