getting 300t to see a usb flash drive

i bought a dual usb (2 usb ports) adapter, plugs into 40pin socket, has 2 usb ports. i plug any one of several usb flash drives into in but can't figure out a way to see the files on it. have gone to every folder that seemed to make any sense. (finding a way around with an android file manager is really difficult and confusing. i can't find any thing like a file tree)

i have used the stock file manager and es file explorer. using 4.1.1 . not rooted. the flash drives say "Fat" when properties viewed in win7.

i've found that this tablet can't connect to computers through its so called "data cable" . don 't know if this is related. (being discussed on another thread)

If your flash drives are formatted as FAT, they may not work. I have not tested FAT, but I have tested FAT32, NTFS, exFAT, EXT3, EXT4 and HFS. Only FAT32, NTFS and exFAT have worked in my tests.

thanks. guess that i hadn't really thought about fat vs fat32. i found a flash drive that says fat32. plugged it into the adapter, and into tf. still not seeing it. perhaps i don't know how to locate it. i have looked in sdcard, d, >usb, storage. and mnt>sdcard.

using tf file manager, or es file manager, in which folder, under what name, would it be, if it is there?

Using ES File Explorer, look under /Removable/USBdriveX (where X is 1 or 2).

pardon is this is double, but last post did post.

thanks, at least this is saving some time, knowing where to look. /removable = empty. one flash is lit when in laptop, only flashes when inserting or removing on tablet. another is lit on both. no files show for either. both fat32.

I have not seen a dual port USB to 40 pin, where did you buy it? Is it genuine Asus? Any reviews stating it works?

bought it on amazon this past week. no reviews. Amazon.com: YIKING 2 Ports 40PIN USB 3.0 OTG Host Adapter for ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 Prime TF201 TF300 Infinity TF700 SL101: Computers & Accessories .

is it possible that one of the many apps i disabled could be screwing this up, along with not being able to see tablet when plugged into computer, using asus data cable?

getting 300t to see a usb flash drive

    It is possible.

You can try enabling them one at a time to see if it helps.

Also, that is a 3rd party adapter. It claims USB 3.0, and clearly it is not (it lacks the 5 new USB 3.0 pins shown here:

It may just look the part but not work. It is sold by a 3rd party (Hawaii Tech) not Amazon.

The stock "Asus usb adapter" has one port. Do a search on Amazon.com for example and you'll see the Asus adapter is available. I would see about getting a refund on the non-Asus adapter. Also, it's probably not a good idea to buy something with no reviews.
