    mixed up key mapping on Asus keyboard for Tf300T

    I've been having serious difficulties typing from the Asus keyboard for my f300t. Here is the alphabet as I typed it on the keyboard.

    ab8c=defghijklmn0opqrstuvwx1yz
    The numbers all correspond tothe function key immediately above them. For example, 1 turns on WiFi and 6 takes a screenshot.
    Certain letters also act as function keys: n plays bad pop music I swear isn't mine; b sends me to settings and c turns the volume up. This goes on.

    I've checked the language and keyboard settings, and reset it back to us English and restarted the machine twice. I'm all out of ideas, can anyone help?

    Hiya bookworm, language and keyboard settings should switch keyboard flavours...however, your keyboard sounds like it's got another issue. I don't know what. Have you installed updates or something without docking the unit? Actually, it sounds so goofy I don't even think it could be that. I'd simply try a cold boot--if that doesn't fix it, I'd be taking it back for a swap out at the retailers. Just doesn't sound right, or at the least, I haven't read a similar thread. Cheers.

    ...and thanks for posting in the correct forum...whoohooo--a keyboard is an accessory!

    Hi bookworm - eejit posted as I was moving your post You actually posted in tf101 accessories, but are asking about the tf300 dock, so as I had to move it & there were two threads on similar & related subjects, I have joined yours to this one & both now reside in tf300 help

    I can't be sure from what you say, but I am wondering if you have the function key on? It sounds a little as if your keys are behaving in their "second" option, rather than the first.

    In any case, if the keyboard information thread I mention above e in post 2 doesn't provide the answer, then you may well have a faulty dock & need to get it exchanged or returned to Asus.

    Be sure for your keyboard settings you are using the ASUS English (UK) keyboard. If you have any other keyboard (even a virtual keyboard selected) it will default to a US layout and not the UK layout.

    That is quite strange. I would say there is an issue with the keyboard. I would try taking the keyboard to a store with a display model and test it out on their model (talk to the sales reps first). Make sure you have an official ASUS keyboard (like ASUS English (US) selected) and if it gives function characters instead of keys, then there is a fart caught crossways inside the keyboard.
