Unhappy Transformer was dropped -- Does anybody have an estimate on repair?

It was dropped on concrete -- right on the power/lock button of all places! The power button is lodged in more than it would normally be and the Transformer is off. The button does not work anymore. I'm not sure if it was dead before it was dropped it or if something happened electronically during the drop and it then shut off. I haven't plugged in the charger because I am a little nervous -- can I plug it in do you think? It also has the keyboard dock with it as well and that was also dropped, but it does not have much damage.

I'd like a new top skin/cover/shell/whatever it's called and power button for it from the manufacturer and of course all internal repairs made that might be needed.

My budget at the moment can't exceed $300, but I'm thinking it won't top that.

Does anybody have any idea on price for this type of repair? I am sending it in on Monday.

Also, I haven't checked the Warranty Card but I know there wasn't a specific warranty purchased. It may have came with one when it was purchased (about 2.5 months ago), but I doubt it covers this type of damage.

Thank you for reading and thank you for you help!!

Welcome to the Forum. Sorry to hear about your damaged TF. The only way to get an accurate estimate is to call Asus repair. Good luck.

    Welcome to the forum

Ouch - that sounds very unfortunate for you.

Your warranty does not cover accidental damage, neither will it cover shipping costs so based on those two factors alone I expect you will be paying around $200-$300 at a complete guess.

It might be worth seeing if your dock still works well - perhaps charge it & try it in a store on a display model - & then buy a new tablet only if it does. You can always keep your damaged one for spares or sell it as damaged "repair or spares".

Good luck with whatever you decide on...

Do you have all risks insurance? Some bank accounts have phone insurance?

Eh -- I highly doubt my bank offers that because I receive Free Student Checking. Thank you, though!

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm hoping it's not over $300 -- I think at that point I'd just shop around for a new tablet. Appreciate it!
