This is in response to DoctorAnsem,
If there doesn't seem to be any physical damage but you are still having issues I would (assuming its still under warranty either through Newegg or Asus) send it back. I'm not sure why you are hesitant. As mentioned in these forums before, we bought this product with the understanding that it should work out of the box, little to no tweaking needed, if this is not the case it shouldn't be our (the consumer's) problem but one of either the retailer or the supplier.
In any case, if your TF300 is under warranty send it back. Either talk to Newegg to get a replacement or talk to Asus for an RMA. As soon as you Root it the warranty is up and it might not even fix your issue. Even if it does fix the issue, if another one arises in the future Asus (like many manufacturers) would probably be quick to blame the unofficial rooting as the cause and you would be required to pay.
In my opinion, I would only Root when I know for a fact that Asus or Newegg would not help me at all.
