TF300T keyboard and dvorak
Hey Folks!
Just about to purchase my TF300 from amazon, and I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to change the hardware keyboard layout to dvorak? I believe I read somewhere that rooting it allows for a remapping?
Thanks!

Yes,
If you root you can modify the keyboard layout to fit what you want.
I do not see any DVORAK layout options in the keyboard settings for ASUS. There are a few others that give QWERTZ and other languages (Hebrew, Korean, etc.)
I can dig up how to modify the keyboard layout if you need it.
Also, Welcome to the forum!

Posted a keyboard layout fix found at xda here: http://www.transformerforums.com/for...rd-layout.html (Fix was by Jonah! thank him xD)
what you'd do is pick a random layout file (both of them) and edit to Dvorak with a text editor.

AWesome. thank you guys! It'll make getting the tf300 a much better choice over anything else in my head. It's kind of unfortunate that it has to be rooted to do that though, updates go the wayside huh?

Now I don't suppose someone has already done the remapping?
Too much to ask for? =P

I just ordered a TF300T+keyboard, and I need Norwegian Dvorak. I can type QWERTY, but to me, Dvorak versus QWERTY is like riding a new bicycle on fresh tarmac, downhill, versus crawling on your hands and knees through a landfill, downhill.
I guess I'll have to make myself some sort of keymap. The question: If I figure out how to make a keyboard map file, is there a way I can send it to ASUS and have a chance of getting it included in an official update one day?
There should really be an app for this.
It's a little bit disappointing that rooting is even necessary. I mean, even Windows lets you chose Dvorak in various languages without hacking stuff, nowadays - only a few years after the major Linux distros made the option available (maybe you have to run a .msi file in Windows, I don't remember, but the reason why I don't remember, is because it was so easy).
One would think (or at least hope) that the developers of Android aimed for it to be flexible.

You might wanna check out SwiftKey 3 keyboard Free in the Play store.
They claim to support Dvorak keyboard layout.
