Welcome to the forum
There is a TG model that is a phone but the TL model can only make IP calls and is not a phone nor can you had the hardware for it.
Does the TF300TL have capability to be used as a "cell phone" or is this just DATA i.e. Skype , Tango?

leeshor, thanks for the welcoming & model identification/clarification .
Don't get me wrong ...I certainly appreciate ANY discovery available! The Asus website is not well represented and manual (90page dwlndd from here ) does not explain anything about phone capability on the TF300 series.Difficult to identify this capability on the Asus website, model spec sheets :
TF300TG
Network Standard:
LTE
HSPA+ UL:5.76 Mbps/DL:21 Mbps
3G :
WCDMA :
850/900/2100
2G :
GSM : 850/900/1800/1900
TF300TL
Network Standard:
LTE
HSPA+ UL:5.76 Mbps/DL:42 Mbps
LTE UL:50 Mbps/DL:100 Mbps
3G :
WCDMA :
850/900/2100
2G :
GSM : 850/900/1800/1900
? How can I make the identification or search term for "cell phone" capability Vs. IP (you'll have to forgive my lack of tech terminology )
Anyway , I am very interested in this product for specific reasons to consolidate carrying a smartphone & laptop. Understanding there will be losses in versatility, storage, etc , perfectly fine in dealing w/ that . BT headset user anyways, and need for a keyboard is essential for an old ironworker with not-so-nimble fingers anymore.
Do you know current status for (US) AT&T carrier support for this product , assuming understanding it is still a locked product agreement Asus/AT&T. AT&T is not showing product availability for TF300 series, only the Memo & Vivo series tablets.(no keyboard option units)

Believe me , this has been no easy task to identify. I've followed a few posts here about "unlocking"; all seem to point to data or SIM card configured w/ IP and not a specific phone #, so you may be right . I thought I was really on to something darn near perfect/ mobility!
Just wish a member with an actual TF300TL would chime in and give it to me straight .
Um...what's wrong with "IP calls," anyway? Just install the GrooveIP phone. It connects up to your Google Voice account, so if your phone contacts are synced with google, they will all be listed in contacts on the GrooveIP app. And, if you have apps like Poynt or Yelp or Yellow Pages, etc., and you click on a number to call, it will automatically transfer to the G.IP phones and call it for you. If you spring for the whole 5 buck version, you can receive calls on it too, using the number came with your gmail/google voice account.
