Successful downgrade to 4.1.1 HDMI back

I just downgraded from 4.2.1 to 4.1.1 it wipes the tablet . But after reinstalling apps and backups , I now have full functioning HDMI with sound , full screen with movies , and the tablet goes black again while using HDMI . I also have Auto Airplane working again . The only thing I miss is the new keyboard with 4.2.1. Downgrade was easy and worked flawlessly . No root or unlocked bootloader needed .

I went to Asus Transformer Pad TF300T Support site and download section . Downloaded firmware version V10.4.2.20 for US -SKU for United States ,if you have a different region you will need your region . Unzip the file and there will be another Zip file .Put the second Zip file on a empty micro flash card and put it in a turned off tablet . Turn the tablet on , there will be a triangle in the notification bar after bootup . Tap the triangle and it will let you know there is a Downgrade available install it . Remember this does wipe the tablet . So backup your stuff.

I personally don't use the HDMI port so it has not been an issue for me. The only issue that was bugging me was the increased battery drain, but I managed to get rid of that by turning of the Dreams feature in Display settings as this was the culprit causing the drains!

    Thanks very much, Wallydog

Being able to rollback so easily will be a great help to many, I am sure.

Followed your tip about turning of the Dreams feature in Display settings and battery drain seems back to normal. Thanks!

Well, before downgrade I made backup using Asus Backup utility and I cannot restore it after downgrade. It says that backup file cannot be opened and that I should update to latest vesrion of the utility. Anyone else having such problem? :-(

I didn't use the Asus backup utility . I copied stuff to a SD card and re synced with the Google stuff . Reinstalled apps as I needed them . ..So backups made from the future cannot be used in the past . Good to know .
One remedy that would take some time . Update to 4.2 then restore from your backup get Carbon backup from the play store and install on a PC and the tablet and use it .Then downgrade again and install carbon again on the tablet . It may or may not work .
