    Performance out of the box?

This tablet is on the top of my list.
I was thinking about the 700, but with the I/O issues I am reading about on XDA, I may stick with my original choice of the 300. What is the performance out of the box like? Are most of you just running it stock or with a custom ROM?

I tried my co-workers Samsung Galaxy today. It was ok, you could see it "flutter" (is that a word?) sometimes when moving between home screens.

Is the tablet smooth? How is the I/O?

Personally, having read here of the build quality & firmware issues with every single model since the tf101 I am flagging Asus tablets as "think carefully & consider other manufacturers' products too before you buy".

I may well not buy another Asus tablet if/when I upgrade my tf101 later this year.

And no, I haven't decided what (if anything) I would buy instead...

Having said that, if you want the unique docking capabilities of the range then, yes, they are the one to get. Just ensure you buy from a retailer with excellent after sales support.

Wow janner43! Maybe just my opinion seems your attitude on asus has been sliding south lately. I completely agree with you though. I think I will have to read up on acer to out how their support and QA is. This is a major lesson for everyone. It still holds true. It is not wise to live on bleeding edge.

I'm just trying to be honest, not critical.

The cost of these devices means they should "just work" & that the screens shouldn't crack or that pdfs should display without flickering on a HD screen powered by a tegra3 quad core chip.

At heart I'm an android fan - sadly the tablet reality has dulled that pleasure for me somewhat

My tf300 is 100% stock no rooting or room. The tf300t is great for games especially the ones design for tegra 3.
the issue i have so far is , that when im downloading a torrent the browser gets kind of slow. but other than that the tf300t is pretty fast.
