    Flaky Touchscreen?

    I'm wondering if other users have experienced this. I find that after spending some time with the Transformer 300, especially when moving the machine on and off the keyboard dock, the screen will start to act flaky. In some cases what I'm seeing are "phantom touches." The home screens will start wobbling back and forth, as if someone is half-swiping them. In one case, I was playing the game "Sentinel 3" and the screen started zooming in and out as if someone were pinching it. That's with the tablet undocked. With the tablet docked, sometimes what I'll find is that the screen will become un-responsive. I'll click areas like the app drawer ad nothing will happen.

    This is all resolved by shutting the machine down and bringing it back up again. This has happened to me numerous times, enough, in fact that I'm pretty convinced I'll have to take it back to Best Buy. My only question at this point is whether to return or exchange.

    The fact that shutting it down fixes the issues suggests to me that it's a software glitch, which could potentially be fixed with a future patch. But that also means that exchanging the device likely won't do me any good.

    So I'm posting this to get some feedback from the community and see if others are experiencing these same issues. If not, then maybe I got flaky hardware (a loose connector or something).

    I have not read anything on the forum about this problem, but sounds like a hardware problem?

    Best to take it back for a replacement?

    Went back to Best Buy last night and exchanged it (actually had to go to a second store, as the one I'd bought mine in was sold out!). So far the experience with the replacement has been 100% positive. I'm withholding judgment until I've had some time with it, but I'm 99% sure that my first Transformer simply had a hardware issue... bad touchscreen. In fact, when I was going through the setup on this one, I remembered that the screen had become unresponsive even during the setup process on the last one.

    Well, after spending about an hour this morning playing with he tablet no and off the keyboard dock, I'm convinced the last one had a hardware issue with the touchscreen digitizer.

    The replacement is rock solid in that department.

    Unfortunately, I've noticed that the replacement suffers from the scratchy speaker issue that others have reported. It's not a dealbreaker, though. Only happens occasionally when you first launch an application. Most of the time the sound is crystal clear. If it gets worse I may rethink it, but for now I'm OK. I suspect the speaker thing is a software issue that will be fixed with an update frmo ASUS.

    So all in all I'm pretty happy with the replacement. And I've got to say: the Tegra 3 is blazing!

    Mine has the same issue but only when it is in the dock. Remove it from the dock and all is fine. Going to swap out the dock and see if that fixes the issue.
