Asus Transformer Pad TF300T Help please ?
Hello Everyone.
Recently I cam across a Transformer TF300T that I used years ago.
It is on Android version 4.2.1.
There are no updates available for this tablet.
Is there any chance I can get it to Android version 5 so that I can use the tablet to run an app for my model railway which requires Android version 5 or later ?
That is the only thing I want to run on this tablet.
There is a guide here but that requires version Android 4.2 10.6.1.8 firmware or better.
Can someone please tell me how to update this tablet to at least version 4.2 10.6.1.8 or better so that I can then install Android version 5.
I can connect the tablet by Usb to my Windows 10 PC which recognises it as a Transformer Pad TF300T
I need a bit of hand holding as I don't mind admitting I'm out of my depth here.
Thanks & Regards.
Tony.

I've made a little progress to where I'm as far as here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tra...stock-t3554744
"4 - FLASH TWRP 3.3 RECOVERY
Charge tab to 100% before continuing.
Start it in bootloader mode (Hold Power + Volume- till you see 3 icons).
Connect it to PC.
Open a Windows command prompt on the /djibe pack folder you unziped earlier:
select folder with left click, right click while holding SHIFT on keyboard -> Open command windows here
In Windows Command Prompt (not Windows Powershell !), type :
Code:
fastboot devices
.
If the serial number is written, tab is well connected.
### If not : try this command :
Code:
./fastboot devices
### If still fails : Try another USB port.
### If still fails : Launch Windows Command prompt in Administrator mode
### If still fails : Check Universal Naked drivers installation.
### NB. Timduru advises to use exclusively TWRP Kang 2.8.7.2 : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347781183
### But this 2.8 TWRP has huge problems with F2FS. So I prefer latest official one.
Now type :
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp-3.3.0-0-tf300t.img"
I'm getting the error error: cannot load 'twrp-3.3.0-0-tf300t.img'
I've tried (Change USB port, Run Command prompt in Administrator mode) but I'm stuck.
Anyone please.
Thanks.

I've made further progress.
The bootloader was still locked.
I have now unlocked it but I still get an error message ?
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.img
error: cannot load 'twrp.img'
Anyone at all give me a few pointers please ?
Thanks.

Hi Tony,
There are a couple of experts here, but due to the low activity level here at this forum nowadays they ere not checking in every day. Hopefully one of them will turn up, but you may have to wait a few days.

Just an update on this.
I've managed somehow to getting as far as flashing my first rom which is some miracle believe me.
I'll try to flash a rom tomorrow.
A bit of encouragement from an expert would go a long way but I guess this tablet is from the stone age at this stage
