    Unhappy Bricked Tf300.. booting only to Recovery

    Hello guys..

    This is the situation...
    i had a tf300 tab with latest firmware installed, I wanted to install Twrp recovery, so for that i had unlocked the tab and used fastboot to install twrp 2.5.0.0.. i did the mistake of not installing the recovery for the 4.2 bootloader one.
    The recovery got installed without any issues.. once i rebooted the tab after installing it kept on rebooting into recovery,so thinking that a wipe would help, i tried formatting from twrp itself, but it showing mounting errors, so i rebooted into the bootloader using power+volume down and did a wipe from there..after that i am not able to get into fastboot or into the boot-loader..its just keeps restarting..
    (my mistake of not going through the instructions in complete.. it had asked not to do a wipe from the bootloader).. so now i have a bricked tab which i have been trying to revive since a few months, since i have not made any nvflash backup, i am at loss..

    In short...
    -cant acces the bootloader menu
    -reboots only into recovery
    -adb works in recovery
    -i am able to access apx
    -no fast boot

    I tried the "adb reboot bootloader".. but its just reboots to apx..
    I cant mount anything (system, data or cache)

    things i have understood is the recovery is unable to mount the mmc.. bcs this is what dmesg shows

    now thinking that the drivers might be screwed..maybe thats why its not able to initialize the mmc, i downloaded the source form asus website and started compiling the mmc modules (got the config.gz from the tab itself)

    tried insmod'ing the modules i built.. but started showing error in dmesg that @symbol already owned by kernel...
    so i tried editing the mmc script and removed all the export_symbol line from it.. thinking just initializing this way might rescan the modules.. i was wrong.. it started showing the error driver already loaded in dmesg...

    i read somewhere that its impossible to unload the drivers already built into the kernel..

    now i am stuck ..dont know what to do next.. because i am a noob in linux and compiling stuffs... but i m certain that i have compiled everything perfectly..

    P.S.. i dont know the bootloader version..but i am sure it was the latest and i was able to retrieve the serial no of the tab using "getprop ro.serialno", so the serial no is intact..

    I'm not sure how much I can help you. Normally if adb access is still available through recovery then things are pretty good. However in your situation, you have the wrong recovery AND you don't have bootloader fastboot access. At this point, unless you are able to re flash the original stock firmware in the wrong TWRP (either through adb push or an SD card) there isn't much that can be done.

    Out of curiosity, did you accidentally download the wrong TWRP file from the list of all available, or did you click on a link for the "correct" TWRP from an old guide? Thankfully they have started labelling things better and including correct instructions for the tf300 on their website.

    Doing a wipe data from the bootloader with an incompatible recovery installed usually equals a hard brick...

    BUT
    I may have a solution for you.
    It's the magical bootit.ko by _that. I'm pretty sure it'll work since TWRP still boots which would indicate the bootloader is still solid.
    This time read the whole thread (link below) and quite a bit of the thread I linked to on XDA where _that posted the commands to use bootit.ko.
    This method worked on the TF700 and TF201. I see no reason why it wouldn't work on the 300.

    May have bricked my tf700t

    well...tried the bootit.ko method just now, it just reboots the tab back into apx mode...
    as u said i am sure the bootloader works..just dont know know how to kick it into it..

    is there any possible way to get the tab to show the mmcblk0.. because its clearly detects the MMC but does not load it due to some driver errors.. .. i am sort of obsessed trying to revive it back.. i am a noob source code editing.. so there's a limit to which i can do tweaking the source code and modules.. I am pretty sure there are quite a lot of people who have done the same thing as i have done and regretting like me.. if once the mmc gets loaded i am sure the rest would work.. bcz later on you can at least erase the misc and reinstall the firmware.. :P ( i know you cant literally erase them untill you have fastboot access, but still something could be done)

    i am just too frustrated now.. dont know what to do next.. i need some guidance

    I'm confused. Is your tablet booting into recovery or APX?

    I wouldn't try anything at all while in a frustrated frame of mind, that's how stupid errors get made. Sleep on it for a day or two at least. Then re-read everything to see whatever you might have missed.
