    Hi Guys n Gals,

Back again with a problem that isn't ROM related, but hoping you can point me in the right direction.

Yesterday, the "F" button on the keyboard dock stopped working - out of the blue. All other buttons are fine. It won't respond with caps lock either. I've switched between Asus & Google keyboard input, rebooted etc, but it's still the same.
If I detach the screen and use as a tablet, the "F" button works as normal.

So this points to an issue with the keyboard itself I'd say. Now before I take it apart and hope it's something mechanical and not software, I was wondering if I've hit some magic key combination that will disable certain letters/functions that you may be aware of? I've had similar experiences before where I've inadvertently switched some function off and thought it may be the same this time?

Any advice greatly appreciated as always. Hope my beloved TF300 isn't on it's way out . . .

    Thanks

    Dumfy

Can't think of anything. Most likely it's a dirty membrane. Never taken keys off the dock so I don't know how easy it is.

GT, good to hear from you! Dumfy, before you break out the hammer & chisel, turn the keyboard upside-down and blow some air at it. For most people that means buy a can of canned air at the computer section of the local Wally World, but if you have a compressor you can use that too (unless it's one of those that has a bad habit of spraying water along with the air). If that doesn't do the trick, you could try prying off your F key and cleaning under it with rubbing alcohol but that's a shot in the dark. And I'd search Amazon and E-Bay for a new (or reconditioned) dock long before I'd pitch the tablet, and if that's too expensive look into a Connect Dock with a standard USB keyboard (that's my setup) or just a bluetooth keyboard.

Thanks for the tips and advice. Sorry it's taken a while to reply, but have only just got keyboard problem sorted.

I took the offending button off keyboard and cleaned membrane area with air and when it didn't work, carefully used alcohol. No luck either. Took keyboard apart and checked confections inside but button still dead. Gave up as a bad job.

Managed to find a keyboard on eBay which arrived yesterday. It works perfectly and is in really good condition. Hope the battery will hold charge - under test at the moment. At least now I can make one good keyboard up out of two should I have any more problems in the future.

    All the best.

PS - Forgot to add a minor quirk the replacement keyboard has that I've not come across before. Any SD card (Fat32 or NTFS formatted) that I put in the dock/keyboard always comes up as a USB drive. This never happened with the other dock.

Not a major issue, but wondering what it could be. I'm using Marshmallow.

    All the best

"Took keyboard apart and checked confections inside"--maybe those confections caused the problem?

So, as an update, I did as suggested, formatted to F2FS, clean install of kat-kiss6.0, and honestly, still disappointing with the performance... seems very sluggish and not very responsive a lot of times,

I don't know if my TF300 is a lemon, or if the ROM just doesn't run well on it, or if theres another issue...

Thinking of flashing a new ROM, anyone suggest the next best thing to katkiss 6.0?
