Great guide, thanks! Unlocking was easy for me except that I kept getting my google password rejected as invalid. Turns out I just needed to get an application password since I use 2-step verification. It might not be a bad idea to include a warning about that at the stage of instructions for running the unlocker.

I got as far as being able to get my device recognized by fastboot but I can't seem to push the recovery, i.e.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot devices
    015d165c50100a0c fastboot

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recover
    y twrp.blob
    sending 'recovery' (6448 KB)...
FAILED (command write failed (No such device or address))
    finished. total time: 0.005s
I tried Googling and reading forums and my best guess is this has to do with trying to run this from a Win 7 64 machine, but 1) I'm not sure that's the issue and 2) I don't have ready access to another type of machine so I thought my next move would be to ask for more help here

UPDATE: I rebooted the tablet back into fastboot mode again and tried again and this time it worked:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recover
    y twrp.blob
    sending 'recovery' (6448 KB)...
    OKAY [ 2.610s]
    writing 'recovery'...
    OKAY [ 6.891s]
    finished. total time: 9.503s
Maybe the instructions could suggest rebooting the tablet into fastboot mode again if someone encounters that error? Anyway, onto next steps, will report later...

I have no idea why it fails after the device being recognized in fastboot????
It would be really helpful to have a reliable fastboot connection for troubleshooting, so invest a little more time to get it working...

If your tablet is rooted, there is another method:
Download Terminal Emulator from the Play Store.
Copy the twrp.blob to the root of your internal SD

Launch terminal emulator, then type the following:

    su

    dd if=/sdcard/twrp.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4

    Then reboot to complete installation.

So after using the _That ver 4 kernel for a while and seeing how well it works (raised my Quadrant score from ~3200 to ~4000+ ) I decided to see how easy it would be to change kernels. So I went back through TWRP and re-installed this time using the Hunds Kernel, well I gotta say, as smooth as I thought my tablet was running before its even better now (Quadrant above 5000), hard to believe but it begs the question as to why these awesome devs who come up with these tweaks aren't working for Google or Asus lol. Thank you so much. I'm loving my tablet like never before.

    Hi guys,

Any guide on how best to root the latest stock ROM from Asus? (10.6.1.27.5-20130902)

This guide is great for installing a custom ROM but I don't want to do that I just want to root and run lagfix so I can get rid of the really annoying lag that plagues the 4.2.x stock ROM.

    Help would be appreciated.

This worked AMAZINGLY well. I had to restart twice to succeed at the step where you run twrp.blop , but other than that it worked flawlessly! MY BRICK is now a awesome blazing fast transformer tablet. Is there some way I could donate to you? You deserve more than just my thanks! BTW, Thanks so VERY Much!
