After rooting, do I need to unlock bootloader to install a custom rom?

    Hi yall

Ive been looking over the internet and i really cant find a yes or no, i just rooted my pad via Debugfs method and i want to install now a rom, however do I need to unlock the bootloader now or I just need to have the tablet rooted?

edit: also in what format should i use the microSD i use with my pad? i want to use it to store apps and for the system to use if possible (32GB)
also the SD (dock) im gonna use it for transferring between my pc and tablet

To install a custom ROM, you must unlock the boot loader.

Also, it is my understanding that you need to be unrooted to unlock the bootloader. Trying to unlock it on a rooted tablet can cause issues.

You should be able to do a temp unroot with OTA Rootkeeper to unlock. Then flash your favorite recovery (ClockWorkMod or TWRP) for the TF300. Also get NVFlash working with your computer in case you happen to brick it and make sure you can flash a ROM from nothing.

Thank you so much! So I did the steps backwards...

    Kinda..

Also, if you are going to install a custom ROM, no need to root. Just unlock, install custom recovery, then flash a custom ROM. 99% of custom ROMs are gonna be rooted anyway.
