Windows 10 thinks trackpad is mouse - scrolling won't work

    Hello all!

The windows 10 update seems to have messed up a lot of people's trackpads.. including mine. I've looked for solutions from several places, and so far have tried:

    - updating my driver
    - restarting
    - attempting to download smart gesture
    - going into device settings for mouse

The most useful solution seems to be going into the device settings to turn on two finger scrolling.. except that that option doesn't seem to come up. My t200 thinks the trackpad is an actual connected mouse, and nothing I could find in its menus helps me convince it otherwise.. so trackpad changing options don't seem to be available? How do I get two finger scrolling back??

    Welcome to the forum

Windows updates are responsible for quite a lot of grief! The latest news I read yesterday was that MS had to pull at least one of their "critical" updates on the day they released it because it caused the very problem they were trying to fix!!

Windows 10 is hit and miss on updating the asus specific drivers after a major update. One of my laptop's needed a full reinstall of the touchpad driver each time a windows insider beta was updated.

The two drivers you likely need are the ATK package and then the smart gesture touchpad driver in that order. Perhaps even the windows 8.1 Intel chipset driver if you are really stuck. That last one tends to solve a lot of issues it shouldn't really be connected to.

Same, I have reinstalled the touchpad driver on both T200TA and another Asus laptop after the November update. Works just fine now.

    Hello -

Fiddling with driver installs didn't go too well.. hah..
But it look like the newest windows updates fix the problem I've been having.
It's still treated as a mouse, but the scroll works properly (albeit inversed) now.

    Thank you for the help!

The inversion setting is available in the Asus touchpad tool. I think you got the tool to work so just try to find it.
