Hard Drive space not returned after removing windows.old folder.

    Hi,

I just received a new T100TAF (through groupon, they must be clearing them out), and immediately upgraded it to Windows 10. With the "32 gig" hard drive actually only being 18gb, there's barely any space to begin with. There were about 11 gigs open before the upgrade. After the upgrade, it's down to about 5gb. I removed the windows.old folder with the disk cleanup utility. However, despite removal of the folder (which properties stated was about 12gb), no space has been returned to my C drive. I still only have about 5gb left.

Anybody have any clue what this is about?

A 32GB harddrive should have more than 18GB usable space, my T100TA has 27.7GB usable space

I am not certain but I think not all the contents of the .old folder can be deleted immediately, some is needed to remain for a while because it is being used or will be used by Windows 10

I suggest you download TreeSize by Jam Software there is a free version and also a Portable ZIP version if you don't want to install it (I use the portable version)
Run TreeSize and see what is using your space. Post screenshots of the TreeSize results so forum members can offer further help

    Good luck
