Reason I asked was because I tried one of those first (USB drive installer) and upon selecting the clean install it immediately asked for a key, so I figured this was for people with a spare win7/8 key lying around. Will have a look again I suppose.

Verify your activation status before reinstalling Windows 10 to verify it is shown as activated otherwise you can encounter activation issues following the clean install.
Can I interpret this as that the 'digital entitlement' activation (that Win10 on the T100 currently tells me is how it's authorised) is now permanent, and that I can now start a clean reinstall at any point in the future (after today but before EOL of course) based on its hardware ID, without having to enter a product key? If so I might as well postpone a full reinstall until I run into actual issues

The OEM Activation feature helps ensure that most people will never have to deal with Windows activation. PC manufacturers insert a digital product key into a Windows PC’s BIOS during manufacturing. When you buy a PC with Windows preinstalled, Windows automatically activates over the Internet using the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) product key.
