    Upgrading from 8.1 to 10.. NOPE! 8.1

    [I have the Asus T100 TAM, 64gb]
I am trying to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
Everything is up to date, no problem there.
I press the upgrade to Windows 10 thingy in Windows Update and it starts downloading that 2gb+ update.
After everything is done updated I allow it to continue, then the screen goes configuring update to Windows 10, don't turn off the computer.
Then the tablet goes to the Asus bootup screen, and then the login screen.. nothing changed, still Windows 8.1.
Now I press the Upgrade to Windows 10 icon again, and it does everything again, starting with downloading the 2gb+ update, and the same thing happens again.
Do I get Windows 10 now? Nope, 8.1.
5 times now, so I'm asking you guys, have this happened to you? If so, have you managed to fix it? If yes, could you tell me how to fix this in a way that someone like me can understand? I'm not good with computers, so..

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forum

Microsoft has a tool (file) called the MediaCreationTool. You may want to download that and try using that tool instead of the way you're doing it. That's just another way to get the same desired result.

Make sure you have a backup of Windows 8.1 somewhere (use Macrium or any other Windows Imaging tool). If you do a clean install you may not have a "way back"...which may be important if you run into licensing issues.

When Win10 first rolled out some people tried to clean install Win10 over 8.1. There were reports of Win10 not activating for them, presumably because the MS servers were expecting an upgrade from 8.1 to 10. In their situation they still had their Win8 installation media so they were fine. In your instance though, 8.1 comes pre-installed. Therefore, if you can't do the upgrade and the only way is to do the clean install, make sure you have a backup.

If you have another computer, download iso file from here:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/techbench

Use Rufus to create bootable usb.
Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way
No need to boot from it, just run the setup.exe file that Rufus extracts from the iso file.

It shipped with Windows 8.1 with Bing, not the same as Win8.1
It was free to Asus, so free to you.

Your license or Product ID (PID) is in the UEFI (BIOS).
You can extract it with Magic Jellybean Key Finder.

Win10 functions as good as or better than Win8.1.
Any bugs are due to the acid.

Thanks im sure W10 is great but I humped it over a broken W8.1 and got a broken W10.

What exact version of W8.1 With bing do I need?
That way I can get the drivers and BIOS flashed?
Nothing works now it does not even think its an ASUS tab it thinks its a windows 10.

Also all the ASUS software is gone.

I have the recovery partition but not the software to access it, the factory soft is there,
unsure how and what to do now.
