After years on this site and seeing thousands of posts...there's no evidence to support your highlighted statement. The reported cases are minuscule/extremely rare in terms of the number of Asus tablets used by consumers. There's also no doubt of the possibility a few defective units can always appear among the millions produced.
You reported it as a Skype-specific issue, and Post 5 contains a remedy.
If the problem persists, the recommendation is to get a replacement unit after contacting Asus of the reported defect.
