Okay, I am not entirely an amateur with computers but am stumped on this one. Just got my Prime and Dock and cannot move the docking port to the upright position to dock the Tablet. Am I missing something here? The docking port is essentially in the closed position, came that way out of the box, and I cannot move it for fear of breaking it. Looked all over the keyboard and instructions but nothing about this issue. I did try and move the Tablet undock switch but again to no avail. HELP.
The dock is really tight without the prime in it. I had to push it harder than I was comfortable doing to get it to move into a position to dock it. Make sure that the slider is on the left (open) position. The stiffness keeps it stable when the Prime is docked.
Thanks for the quick response. I just tried giving it a lot more "push" after reading what you said. Being careful not to break the plastic on the top part of the port. Wow, it did open but it is REALLY tight. Thanks for your help, I wish ASUS put a little note in the box indicating it was that tight.
Also, mine arrived today and I was struggling to dock it till I decided to remove the rubber inserts from the side connector holes. It doesn't say anywhere you have to remove them before you try to dock it and I didnt want to force remove or tear off something that might damage the device. It is identical to the rubber lid protecting the usb port. Once removed the screen panel docked very easy.
i was a bit worried about it too at first, but if you think about it, it has to be tight if you want it to be stabile when the tablet is docked. and i agree it would be nice to have some indication that the rubber bits are supposed to be removed.
I just unboxed mine 5 minutes ago. I had the same issue. I didn't want to break the little sucker. Anyway, my first thought was come on here. It's great i can get questions answered even without asking them. That's what this site is great for. Thanks for the tip. Also, my when my wife saw the dock she said it was really cool. Neat looking thing.
lol glad to see I wasn't the only one with this...I would try and then pull it down...look for a lock...finally I just slowly pulled and it open...whew!! LOL it is really tight.
Remember when the tablet side is docked, there is way more leverage than without, don't be worried about breaking it, just make sure you use an even amount of force on both hinges so not to twist it
I just inserted the tablet into the hinge the way it came out of the box, I didn't pivot the hinge at all and the tablet snapped right in and I opened it like normal..no issues.
I'm so glad I found this forum. I was so afraid to break the dock when all I needed to do was apply a bit more pressure. Whew!!!
