How far along did the update get? Assuming it got all of the way through it takes me holding the power button for around 3-4 seconds before it comes on (which even after releasing the power button there is a delay before the post screen).
Also, when you plug it in the tablet to charge, it should power itself on.
It got to checking the rom or something. then the screen turned off an never came back on.
My extremely uneducated immediate guess is that it shut down to prevent the upgrade download attempt.
My own TF was around 47% when I tapped the notifications to start the 3.1 process. The machine warned me that the procedure could not take place and recommended that I fully charge the battery before any attempts. Do you see any signs of life at all? Have you plugged it into mains charger?
Nothing yet.. Still on the charger.. I have some signs of life. While I have it plugged into the PC I can hear it connecting to the pc and disconnecting.. sort of .. the pc makes sounds...

I say blindly because when you reboot, not even the asus logo shows up. Nadda.. Nothing. The screen backlights come on, and that's about it.
Anyone find a solution to this yet that doesn't involve a couple days of waiting?

Did you try plugging it into the wall charger for about 30+ minutes?
I had a dead tablet battery last weekend and it would not even turn on. Had to charge it (wall plug had come unplugged from the wall and I did not realize it).
Yea, tried that.. It's not that simple I'm afraid.
I did manage to fix it. I took off the back cover and pulled the battery connector for about 30 sec... Same thing as letting it drain.
Just wish I knew what causes the problem in the first place.
