Anyone know how spammers know what to spam you with?

I've begun to receive a large number of spam emails for meeting "black singe women". First of all, I don't care much for women. Second of all, I have absolutely no profile on any of the online dating websites.

How was I chosen to receive this particular topic of spam?

I guess they send out those mails to random addresses they've collected. People are bound to open (and even react to) such mails, giving the spammers confirmation that the address is in fact in use....
I get Viagra, Rolex and naked women mail in my mailbox that I use for website registrations and webshops.

Once I created an emailaddress to a Nigerian "prince" who wanted me to help him with his money... we mailed for three weeks and I made him think I was a wealthy businessman named Richie Rich, that was willing to send him some money. It was hilarious!!!

I just re-read my previous post and it doesn't make sense...It was in the middle of the night when I wrote it.
I meant to say that I got a mail from the Nigerian "prince" in which he asked to help him with his money.
He would send it to me, because enemies of the royal family had overthrown their regime. But before he could do that, I had to send some money, so he could pay some people at the bank who could transfer his money to me....
And that's when I created the Richie Rich emailaddress to mail him back.

And BTW, I' m not from Africa. My avatar is a little darker than I really am. Couldn't choose a lighter color
