New to Forum. Should I wait for the Prime?
First the introduction.
I am a 46 year old college student majoring in computer science. I was working in the semiconductor industry for over 15 years as an ion implant technician and after the latest layoff, I decided I didn't want to move anymore, so back to school I go. Previously I was a ground radio technician in the Air Force.
Not sure if I should post somewhere else but I'm sure you'll let me know.
I have no experience with a tablet and I spent many hours researching for the right tablet and I have decided on the Transformer. I will be using the tablet mainly for school and entertainment purposes and the only reason I really would want to wait for the prime is the USB functionality it offers.(concerned with transferring files from tablet to desktop and vice versa.)
With what you know today if you were in my shoes, should I wait or should I go shopping today?
Thanks for your help.

Hello Rob and welcome to the Forum. At this time, we really do not know the Prime's release date. We expect an announcement tomorrow.
The Prime will be at least $100. more then the TF. If it were me, and money is not an issue I would wait.

Welcome to the club.
The Prime really looks tempting and merits serious consideration even at a higher price point. As for me, I'm a very content TF1 user along with a lot of others on the forum.
I'm not sure tjough thet the Prime has a USB port on the tablet itself or whether you will require the dock to accept flashdrives. Of course there's always the power/data transfer cable available

Welcome. I'm in the same situation as you are. Future first time tablet owner myself. Currently I'm leaning towards the Prime. I'm waiting for Prime to be release or more info to make my final decision. From the pictures that were released looks like Prime has a USB and an SD slot.

Might as well wait. Hopefully Asus will start making it clearer when the public will be able to purchase the Prime. Once that time has been determined and if its in your time frame then get the Prime. But if you need a tablet pretty soon, the Transformer1 is a great product. But you will need to get the Dock for USB support.
There is an accessory that enables USB support. Some like it and others from the UK have said it doesn't fit their TF's correctly. I'm not sure if the unit sold in the UK has been fixed to fit the TF's or not.
