How many amps needed to charge?

I have 30 transformers for a 5th grade classroom. I need to know how many I can plug into a standard outlet and if I can plug 6 into a power strip and then into a wall plug, etc. Can anyone help with this?

I believe the TF uses 5 amps. You should not have a problem.

Jeffery is correct, but the charger only draws 1/4 AMP AC when charging the TF so as he said, you're fine. In theory, even if you had only those 30 chargers on that circuit, (not just that wall plug), and nothing else you would draw roughly 7.5 AMPS.

    Welcome to the forum.

I would suggest that the TFs be charged overnight and while using them used without the charger.

In terms of ampereage I don't think it would actually be a good idea to plug them all into one plug - and even plug them all in one area. I suggest you distribute them across a wide area - while charging the charger gets quite warm and if you put 30 of them in close proximity to one another, you may potentially have a fire hazard.

Charge them in a wide open area. I think each of them would take around 1.5 Amps at 15V which means about 45 Watts or so per charger when it is charging at its maximum capacity. But the charging current would probably start at this value and then slowly reduce to a trickle as the batteries get charged.

The charger as such is same irrespecive of country - the plug pin configuration is changed to adopt to the country.

All I have to say is you must be one cool teacher with 30 tablets in your classroom! Wish I was about 45 years younger!

I looked at vlbaindoor's post re: voltage/amp requirements and we must be talking about 2 different things or there is a big difference between the UK voltage and the US voltage vs. AMPs

I have a device that plugs into an outlet and anything you plug into it - it will read input and output voltage, AMP/h and AMP draw very accurately. I have never seen my TF draw more than .28 or .29 AMPs during charging. Anyone else?
