NEW member with a TF101-A from cowboom.com
Hello all.
I bought an ASUS transformer tablet from cowboom.com and then ordered up a docking station for it from eBay. The tablet is to arrive tomorrow. I have been reading up on it and I have a couple of questions, but first, I'll list my hopes.
I plan to use the table to read e-magazines on the bus on the way to work, and to do some light browsing, and standard low power tablet stuff like check weather, do some browsing on wi-fi, a little light game playing. I have a hacked nook color that I loaded CM7 on a year or so ago, so I have done some work with android. It looks like the tablet should support android 4.0, or at least I expect that it may come with it, since its listed as pre-owned.
How likely is it that it comes with 4.0 rather than something earlier ? Also, for what I have planned, is it worth it to update it to a newer version of android ? I have no data on it, so I gather that I have nothing to back up before I attack it with a new ROM, unless I need to back it up somehow to retreat to the earlier version of android if my update fails. Advice ??
Oh, and is the -A in the part number of any significance ?
TIA,
Richard

Thanks for joining us Richard!
Most likely it will have Android 4.0. If not, it is easy to upgrade (Settings - About - Check for update)
If you want to root, you can install a custom ROM and bump up to Jelly Bean. IMO, it is faster and more usable than stock if you are willing to take the plunge.
The -A (is actually supposed to be a -A1) is the internal storage size. A1= 16 GB (should be about 12.5-13 GB of usable space after the OS is installed.)

Thanks for that info, I was kinda concerned that it was more like a version number, and that "A" was the first, and therefore oldest, perhaps less improved, version. Thanks for the heads up.
I did see some videos on YouTube comparing the 2 and I will defo be doing the jelly bean rom. I printed out the terrific install instructions and I will be making the plunge, probably tonight when its supposed to get here.
Thanks,
Richard

I bought a T101 from a friend who found it didn't serve her needs. She didn't use it much, so can't help me with my problem. I can't figure out how to cut/copy/paste. The trackpad points and move things, but the bottom bar, which is supposed to provide left and right mouse functions. I attached a mouse to the USB port, and that also moves things around, but the right click doesn't work either.
I'm very frustrated!

Long press with the left mouse or long press on the screen to select text and cut/copy/paste.
