Yep...another Transformer has found a home

It finally arrived yesterday afternoon. The UPS guy never even had a chance to set it down before I opened the door. I had planned on waiting a few months before buying but a killer deal popped up and I ended up with a brand new 32 Gb version and the docking station shipped for less than I could have hoped to expect thanks to eBay (definitely the last place I would have expected a good deal on electronics).

So far my experience with it has been awesome. It pretty much does what I always wanted from a laptop, makes keeping up with e-mail super easy, and I can't wait to tackle even more features. I love the Google maps with GPS feature. The docking station is pretty sweet making writing a breeze and I love the fact that you can turn off the touch pad with a button.

I am bummed a bit when I found that external USB DVD drives are not supported yet but a copy of DVD Catalyst will fix that. Still waiting for the official Netflix app to hit the market for added value but I just read the post where there is an app created by the android community that may take care of that. I don't plan on rooting my device until I know a lot more so I am hoping that this will work (having read mixed results from stock Transformer owners).

So I would like a few suggestions for apps:
    A good movie player?
    A good mp3 player?
    A good anti-virus/firewall?
I did look over the apps section but these are the ones I couldn't really find a consensus on.

Thanks in advance for any advice and I look forward to learning a lot about the Transformer.

Welcome to the forum! You are in the right place my friend.

Netflix is getting closer, there is a solution if you root (jailbreak) your TF, but that may not be up your alley just yet.
As far as movie/video player, I use MoboPlayer and VitalPlayer for my needs. Mobo is my go to, but if that has issues I will hit up Vital. Most of my files are XViD avi's. It should play mp4's through the stock viewer (in the Gallery I believe)
MP3 player, I use the music player. I upgraded to the new one from the market to get access to my google music. I have my entire library on google music and can play whatever I want as long as I am connected, and can cache offline if I want to grab something. Another alternative is the Hive Player if the Music app does not work well for your needs.
Anti-Virus - That is a debate. It is said that Android can get a virus but many believe that this is rare and the extra processing power and battery life that is taken to do this is not worth it. I have not yet installed one.
Here are a few threads about the AV topic:

Firewall - I have not heard or seen anyone who has needed this. Maybe someone else can cover this one.

    Welcome to the forum!!!

    +1 for Mobo for video
You could try Hive Player for music playback.
As far as anti-virus and firewall they really are not needed. Android is not that susceptible to viruses. As long as you know what you are downloading and only downloading it from either the app market or amazon app market you should be fine.

I'd also recommend Audiogalaxy for listening to music. It streams from your home computer any/all of your music.

Welcome to the forum and although it may not be necessary I use the free version of AVG for antivirus protection. Makes me feel secure anyway.
