Long-press on MicroSD and then press Shortcut. This will send a MicroSD shortcut folder to your home-screen.

Having issue with this step. When I open Removable, it says: "Empty Folder"
Granted, I have yet to insert a MicroSD card at this point (waiting for it to arrive in the mail), but I'm not sure that is the issue. Do I need to wait until I've inserted for this to show up, or am I missing something?

Yes. I think your missing the MicroSD card.

fair enough, I just assumed since all the other folders were there (including SD card despite my not having an SD card yet either), that perhaps the folder would be ready before I actually had the card. Guess I'll have to be patient

For some reason Android labels the internal storage as /sdcard.
