    Hiya!

    Hey all!

First off, if this should have been posted in the introductions forum please feel free to move it.

My name is Blake and I am a mod over at DroidRzr.com. I recently purchased a TF101 and am excited to get started with modding the hell out of it! I did a quick search for topics regarding:
    1) A current root exploit for TF101 (running ICS)
    2) How to unlock the bootloader
    3) The best/easiest recovery app/method that you guys are using

    ** EDIT **

I somehow completely missed the TF101 development section. Please disregard or move to the new member introduction section.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

The most used method is the ViperMod Option 1 method for the TF101.

Once you do that, you can then install CWM via an APK. I would recommend GnuFabio's installer. CWM 5.5.0.4 has some bugs in it from what I have read. There is also Rogue Recovery (which allows you to flash from the internal /sdcard/ partition, but I think you need to install CWM to flash this first.

Then you can flash any ROM/Kernel you want. Currently, the only Kernel I have seen for ICS is the stock one so no overclocking yet for ICS.

    Thanks Frederuco!

I was still somewhat confused after perusing the dev forum. So the TF101 comes with the bootloader already unlocked?

Yes. There are two versions of the Secure Boot Key (SBK). SBK version 1 is serial numbers B4O-B6O. Midway through the B7O serials ASUS changed to SBK version 2. Version 1, the keys were known and you can use NVFlash if you get in a bind. No one has been able to find or crack V2 of the keys, so NVFlash does not work on Version 2. But, you can still root your device and get a new recovery installed and it will flash any (compatible) ROM. So long as the ROM does not overwrite the recovery, you can flash any other ROM.

The only ROM that I know of that overwrites the Recovery is the stock ROM (which will unroot and put you back at stock) where you could root again.

But, the bootloader is not locked even with the version 2. I have an SBK V2 and can run custom ROMs with no issues.
