New User and Skype Question and USB Question

I've had my Transformer for a few weeks now and very impressed but I do have a couple of newcomer questions.
1. From browsing this forum I conclude that Skype video calls work on the Transformer. I have downloaded the Skype app from Marketplace but it only wants me to enter a phone number. I am used to Skype calls via email address from my Windows experience. What do I need to do?
2. What is best way to connect a USB device - memory stick in my case - to my Transformer?

you can enter your phone number but in the app only select video call to avoid any possible charges
