wireless connectivity issue
Greetings,
Just got my Asus TF and having issues with the wireless.
I'm able to receive wireless signal standing beside the wireless router but 10ft away in any direction and the wireless drops. Sometimes it comes on and says it's connected but the wireless signal icon in the system tray shows blank even though there is signal in the connection settings area.
When standing next to the wireless router I'm able to surf the Internet.
If I just sit the TF down I and view the wireless networks I can see my network and my neighbors networks becoming available and then dropping from the list and then becoming available multiple times. It's like the wireless NIC in the TF is turning itself on and off.
I have a wireless printer and three laptops all using wireless all over the house and the TF will not connect when near them.
I've toggled from channel 1 to channel 6 on the wireless router - no effect.
I've updated the TF per Asus and cold booted it twice - no effect.
I've power cycled the wireless router - no effect.
I've deleted and built new the wireless connection - no effect.
I've toggled the airplane mode several times - no effect.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum!
Do you have any battery saving apps installed, like Juice Defender?
If so, I would try disabling these and test.
Also, can you connect to another access point?
Do you have security enabled on yours? If so, what kind (WEP or WPA)? The TF works much better with WPA than WEP.

Straight out of the box.
I've only downloaded Adobe Flash and nothing else.
Connecting to an Access Point is not the issue. The issue is...Open settings > Wireless & networks From the Wi-Fi networks listed. My wireless appears and disappears constantly. My neighbors APs appear and disappear constantly. I've never seen this behavior before. It's like I'm on the edge of the wireless network where the connection keeps dropping yet I'm not on the edge of my wireless let alone four neighbors wireless ranges.
I have security on the Wireless router WPA.
I have an Android Infuse phone. It stays connected to the wireless AP even walking out into the street 100 ft away.

Maybe try setting a static IP address incase DHCP is creating an IP conflict with another device on the network.
Have you tried turning off everything else wireless except the TF to see if one of them is the issue ?

Can you connect to a neighbors access point and transfer data?
Is it able to transfer data on your WiFi? Or is it just intermittent when the TF sees a signal?
I would see about returning to the retailer if you cannot get a good WiFi signal so long as you have not installed a bunch of apps so it is pretty much stock.

I set a static IP address on the TF and no effect. The device constantly adds and then drops wireless networks.
Even though there is signal on the Wi-Fi networks the task bar shows "No Internet Connection" and the signal meter never shows signal.
If I walk 10 feet to the next room and stand next to the router then it will update and show bars in the task bar.
I've turned off all other wireless devices - no effect.
When standing next to the wireless router I'm able to transfer data as evidenced in my first post where I said I downloaded Adobe Flash at the TFs prompting when powering on.
The signal stays strong when standing next to the wireless router but move 10 ft in any direction and the TF just connects and drops non-stop.
Any other suggestions?

I suggest considering a new router, short of putting your router on a rather long leash that sounds like where the problem is.
Having your neighbor's WiFi appear and disappear isn't unusual, but he's not in the same room.

You may want to change the channel on your router. The TF doesn't like the higher numbers try 6

So you're suggesting the Linksys wireless router that is serving three laptops and an Infuse (android) phone without issue is the problem?
My neighbors WiFi appearing and disappearing actually is unusual. When I view available wireless networks on one of my laptops 10 feet from the Linksys I also see several of my neighbors wireless signals. None of them drop and come back. But when putting the TF next to the laptop that is not dropping signal, then I see my neighbors and my own wireless network cycle as available then drop off of the list completely then come back as available.
Does anyone have a solution or ever heard of this problem?
On Android version 3.2.1 is there a newer version? Would upgrading be helpful?

Jeffrey forgot you tried channel 6 and I forgot you said all the laptops were working
It is beginning to sound like there is an antenna issue in the TF. You mentioned a cold boot, how about a hard reset?
