    [SOLVED] Screen Brightness Changing

Running 4.2.1 on a TF700. The 'black line' problem hasn't been solved and a new issue has cropped up.

When I open an app the screen will get brighter in 3 distinct steps. When I close the app and go back to the desktop, the screen will dim in 3 distinct steps. Happens with any app I open and close. The overall change in brightness isn't significant but it is noticeable. This is only since the update to 4.2.1. I am NOT running on Auto Brightness.

Anyone else experiencing this or have any insights?

    Thanks.

Edit: Somehow the dynamic backlight function had got turned on in the Asus Customized Settings.

This is not an issue it is an Asus feature you have discovered! It is supposed to adjust backlight level based on the app and content you are using. This is not the same as auto brightness adjust and can be turned off seperatly. Its under settings
Asus customized settings and at the bottom of the list is enable smart backlight adjuster. I am not 100% sure that this is what you are experiencing but it would be good to give it a try.

Yes, as mentioned in my edit, I found out what the issue was and corrected it. No, it's not a 'feature'.

Acts like an option, setting, function or feature if you were to ask me. Your kilometers may vary. Since you have solved the problem, I will mark this thread "Solved"

If you don't mind... would you be willing to describe the issue and how you corrected it?

I am sure that other members of the forum would like to read how you solved it. In addition, your description may just help others who wander here from the forum or via Google having the same issue.

    Thanks!

Same exact thing happened to me. I couldn't figure it out. It was bothersome, but I had been putting up with it. I don't know how that backlight function got turned on in the Asus Customized Settings, but once I turned if off, problem solved. Thank You.
