I want my tablet back. How do I get rid of this jellybean update

My tablet is basically useless now with lag issues I never experienced before the jellybean update. I want my old tablet back. How can I revert to the previous version of android. I already did a factory reset but this did not reset the OS to the original OS. ASUS support was useless and basically said you installed the update and therefore you will have to deal with it until ASUS feels like fixing the problem. Is this true or can I revert to the previous version of Android?
