Downgrading Firmware Assistance Questions TF300T
"This is the place to ask questions"
I got caught up in the Jelly Bean OTA update. I lost a few things, mainly root, that I took care keeping from a few incremental OTA's. I need help to get back to a version of firmware where I can get it again. I have searched all over and tried Fastboot to flash a blob. I get a good response from fastboot devices. When I flash the blob for .29 my TF300T display shows a progress bar, with fastboot starting out like it's going to "take" but ending up in a fail. Last night I tired over and over. Same results each time.
I dont wish to unlock my bootloader, use CWM (it's on my HTC Incredible), or any other tools that require me to unlock and lose my warranty.
I have a bit of pc experience. Have flashed a few phones and an old Cruz pad I have lying around.
I have Android SDK Tools. Also searched other forums and got all drivers installed and working on my Win 7 64 bit desktop.
The Fastboot/ADB package out there has never worked running out of C:\Fastboot. I grabbed all the files in the platform-tools directory from SDK, threw them in C:\Fastboot and finally got Fastboot to work.
First I tried putting firmware on the microSD card. No luck. Tried renaming the firmware. No luck either.
Do I need a blank, formatted SD with only the fw on it?
So, can anyone help on getting older firmware flashed on this pad? At least until Jelly Bean has a root available?
Is there a way to fool the TF300T to force a firmware "downgrade"? On other Androids sometimes all that's needed is to rename the zip something like update.zip.
Anyone? Thanks beforehand!

It can't be done without rooting & flashing.
Moved to Jelly Bean.

As Mike says, until a root method is available, you are stuck - unless you unlock & void your warranty...

Do you mean "Without unlocking bootloader, installing CWM 9 or the like) and flashing"?

Did you not have Voodoo Root Keeper installed?
I have upgraded mine OTA and have kept root.

Oh yeah I i do. It says rooted after i restore root but the 2 middle check boxes are unchecked and SU and Root File Explorer tells me I need root...... frustrating at the least.
