Getting Search to talk

Has anyone succeeded in getting Search to give vocal responses? I'm in Canada and have the WW flavour of JB. Tried various Englishes and other languages with no joy. Judging from the demo below, Andrea should be a real chatterbox, but she won't give me the time of day.

Give this a try (TeamEOS JB ROM for the TF101):

Enabling voice search in google now

1. Go into Settings
2. Go to "Language & input"
3. Scroll down to "Speech" and click on "Voice Search"
4. Click on "Download offline speech recognition"
5. Swipe Across to the "ALL" tab if needed
6. Download your speech pack for your language

The problem was that I had my system language set to Canadian English. Reset to US English and all is good.

Note that the problem was getting her to talk. She was always a good listener.

I swore that if there was one gibe about "eh" or "aboot", I would launch into a rant about Americans who say "pin" for "pen" and "uh-huh" for "you're welcome." But somehow these idiosyncracies never evoke the same hilarity.

thanks for the post, Pete. I had not tried g00gle voice, search. She searches fine, but she won't talk to me, and I have US English installed.

HAHA, I harass some of the southerners (I am a damn yankee who lives in the south) about some words, that they pronounce incorrectly.

Ten - tein
Bikini - buckini
Oil - Ole
Tires - Tars

It just depends on which area you are from. The New Englanders like to talk funny too. The sentence "I left the soda in the car" becomes "I left the soder in the cah". One time when I was in Rhode Island I was at a store called Shaws and during check out the cashier asked, "Got a shahs cod?" I was like, excuse me? She kept repeating "SHAHS COD" and finally picked up their shopping club card that says "SHAWS CARD" and I was like Oh, here you go!

And then there was the girl that asked my sister if she was gonna "Potty" this weekend. She was actually saying PARTY but with her R becomes and H it was PAHTY which sounds like POTTY!

Check your system language (Settings: Language &,Input). F's post has to do with enabling speech recognition, not output.
