    [OFFICIAL] TF101 JellyBean Thread

With the announcement of Android 4.1, Google has spilled the beans (literally)
on their new OS codename Jelly Bean. It is available on the Nexus7 natively, and has already been ported over to the Galaxy Nexus (and many more to come).

It has lots of great new features, and it is faster than ICS and rivaling iOS for its buttery smoothness.

As of now, no official announcements from Asus have been made as to whether or not the cool new OS will be officially ported to the TF101, but rumors indicate that Asus is planning on supporting updates up to 18 months after discontinuing their devices, so it should be getting it sometime. Stay tuned for more details. We will keep the first post updated with the latest information that we can find.

Feel free to discuss the rumors you can find about JellyBean and the TF101 in this thread.

UPDATE 1: Looks like an unofficially official list of who is getting JellyBean is here: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/07...et-jelly-bean/ And the TF101 is listed as probably not getting it, but stay tuned for more updates!
    Thanks for the link Muzz!

UPDATE 2: It would appear that the news for the TF101 is not good for JellyBean. A Dutch article (which can be found here) states (when translated to English): The previously launched models, the Eee Pad Transformer TF101 and the Eee Pad Slider, do not expect to update and will remain on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich stabbing. Thanks nagelxz

UPDATE 3: Asus Germany has denied the rumors that the TF101 (and SL101) are NOT getting JellyBean

We will provide further guidance on our expected timeframes for these updates near their release.

We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.

Thank you for your continued support.

As we suspected, this confirms that the Infiity, TF300 and TF201 should be getting JellyBean in the near future. No official word on when the TF101 and SL101 will be munching on jelly beans though.

Thanks for sending this in Kboland

Google announced at I/O that the Motorola Xoom will be getting the update to 4.1. The hardware for the wi-fi only Xoom is almost identical to that of the the tf101. I don't see how our tf101's wouldn't get the upgrade. Asus has been generous so far and I would like to say that if the Xoom get's it, we should too.

Before we get too excited about Jelly Bean, am I right in saying that Flash is not supported on any release after 4.0.x, so Jelly Bean means no Flash.

The information on the list is this
"However, considering its age, we wouldn’t be shocked to see the tablet [TF101] not get the bump to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean."

I don't think this is more than just pure speculation based on gut feeling rather than anything else. So we'll just see what happens, Asus has been generous so far with updates...

Flash will not be supported, however if you are updating from ICS to JB you will continue to get updates until they stop doing updates, you just won't be able to download a fresh copy short of the XDA site.

Good point, however "unsupported" often means "doesn't work"

They officially stated, it will work and you will keep it of upgrading. It just won't be in the play store. So I'm sure it will work.

    Translation from Dutch:

ASUS has today at a press launch its latest tablet shown. The manufacturer showed two months ago launched Transformer Pad 300 and last week launched Infinity Pad Transformer TF700. In itself does not particularly new. However, ASUS did have an interesting news about the Android 4.1 update for the Jelly Bean Transformer tablets.
    Android Jellybean

Late last month, Google unveiled the latest version of the Android operating system, Android 4.1 Jellybean . The only tablet currently equipped with this version of Android is the 7 inch Nexus 7 tablet, which appears in the Netherlands in September. About the updates that other tablets can expect is much uncertainty but ASUS has tonight been some confusion removed.
    Transformer updates

Sam was Tablets Magazine present at the press conference and gave ASUS confirmed that not all tablets of the manufacturer can expect an update to the newest version of Android. The Eee Pad Transformer TF201 Prime, the Transformer pad 300 and the Infinity Pad Transformer TF700 certainly be fitted with Android 4.1 Jellybean.
The previously launched models, the Eee Pad Transformer TF101 and the Eee Pad Slider, do not expect to update and will remain on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich stabbing.
When the update will be rolled out is not yet clear but ASUS will, as with previous updates, go to the first manufacturers belong. Earlier this month, gave a British retailer that the Nexus 7 three months would be exclusively equipped with Android 4.1 Jellybean. This would mean that the first updates will appear anywhere in October. Google itself has not confirmed.
