    [SOLUTION] Dock Battery Drain Issue

    (1) Settings.
    (2) Developer's settings.
    (3) Check keep display on option.
    (4) Uncheck keep display option.

If you want, go to other settings and check and uncheck options that you think might be keeping your tablet on instead of going into deep sleep.

I always play around with the settings after everytime I upgrade or change rom or whatever. So, I never had the battery drain issue.

It seems that if you don't check and uncheck, these options exist in an empty state, and so the TF doesn't know what to do.

Please refer everyone you know to this thread. This is a very simple but non-obvious solution.

    Edit.

I highly suggest you install cpu spy from marke... play store. See if your TF ever goes into deep sleep. Mine goes almost straight into deep sleep as soon as I let it sit idle. It's been 3 days with moderate use and I haven't plugged it in. That's how long your TF battery should last.

It's always a good idea to periodically go through all the settings to see if anything changed or to find something you may have forgotten about that may make life easier.

Can someone please contact Asus and tell them about this? They may not know about this yet.

No-one else has confirmed this to work yet and we are not connected with ASUS in any extra way than you are

You can email them about it, but I would wait until this thread is full of confirmations then you can link them to it

Some people frequent this place, others frequent this place and other places. Some people have never heard of this or that place.

So making mention of a possible workaround, solution or issue in more than one place is never a bad thing on the internet. Obviously, one could post a source or link to, should that person even be aware of a source. It is after all entirely possible that someone figured out something on his or her own.

Back on topic, I've tested these steps on one unit (TF101) with the reported (but general) issue of dock battery drain, unfortunately I can't see any difference in battery performance on that unit. It is interesting to note that this unit I performed the ICS upgrade without the dock. I did connect the dock after this, and followed the steps but I am not noticing anything different. Going by cpuspy there is no difference in deep sleep cycles or their timers visible.

A second unit, also a TF101 I performed the upgrade with the dock connected. But now it gets intruiging. Following these steps I did notice that upon completion the unit does indeed no longer have the strange issues of screen activation and inability to enter deep sleep cycles. Not fully, I should add, there are still some unknown factors (not third party apps, clean systems these) but this is a definite step in a right direction.

Try using cpu spy to see if your TF goes into deep sleep or not.

I had never noticed a battery drain issue until yesterday - and I thought my random reboot freeze was solved until then, when I had a reboot/freeze and 50-60% of tablet battery disappear over an hour or two of sitting idly.

I have just tried GI's tip, and will let you know in a few days, although mine would not necessarily be a good case in point.
