    Hi,

I believe I have followed all the steps correctly, but I can't seem to have a shell id of 0.
By shell id you mean "uid"? or what should I see after I enter "adb shell id"

Sorry I usually don't ask questions and can figure these out, but this isn't working well for me and I have the exact specifications as your tablet described.

Apart from the very first OTA update, it has never updated OTA again.

In an earlier post, I had success in moving my Transformer TF101 back from the US version (God knows how it got there) to the WW version 'IML74K.WW_epad-9.2.1.17-20120312' . Whilst an improvement, it would spontaneously reboot from time to time - sometimes all by itself (i.e. no user within metres of the device) and sometimes when using the device.

In recent weeks 9.2.1.21 was released and whilst I kept trying the 'get updates' option. It kept reporting no updates were available - I was beginning to think that above activity was a waste of time. However today, and update appeared OTA and installed without a hitch. DOn't know why the delay - but don't really care - the OTA update is working and the device has the right ROM installed.

Thanks again for your great work

    Cheers
    Geoff

So, just to verify, if I'm only wanting to root, then I stop here.....

    Part IV

    (1) Congrats. You are now rooted.

    (2) Transfer the folder "apps" into your TF.

    (3) Install those 2 apps found in the folder.

    (4) Open up the app "superuser". Then go back to your homescreen.

    This right???

With rumors of a new ICS update (.24) that finally resolves the issues many have experienced that prompted us to downgrade to HC, I am considering going back to ICS if the .24 update works. For those of us that followed the guidelines of this thread, is there anything as should be aware of before attempting ICS again? Thank you.

I have a question concerning your procedure....
When I got to this section:
    Part III-B (ICS)

    (1) Double click "viperMOD Primer Tool v4.5 - Copy.bat".

    (2) Choose #1 only!

    (3) Follow instructions on the screen.

During following the screen instructions....there was a reference to an xdf developers or something...for further information but there wasn't any url / link to that information. I skipped that part and when I got to the start of the superuser and recoveryinstaller...it said that the unit wasn't rooted even though the vipermod tool said it was earlier. Would please expand on how to get the information.
    Thanks

    PS
Would you post the steps or reference the material to revert back from ICS to HC?

    Update:
It seems that this process can't root version ending in .21 which I have. I tried the 4.6 of vipermod anyway but got the same result. Also answered my driver question...I didn't need to do anything since I have windows 7 64 bit.

I found this method of reverting back to version .11 of ICS then I was able to complete your method successfully.

HowTo: Root you Asus Transformer TF101 running ICS 9.2.1.21 or Transformer Prime TF201 running ICS 9.4.2.21, WITHOUT unlocking your bootloader! - Freek.ws

The above process end result is to allow root in the current version .21 ICS by reverting back to version .11 ICS so I just followed the steps to revert back to .11 ICS ONLY! Then I followed your guide.

Hello transformer community. I need help on my tf101. I follow this guide to downgrade to honeycomb. But now I want to upgrade to the original Asus update .24; I heard this version is stable enough. No RR/SOD. Can someone provide me with step by step guide if I want to go back to use original Asus update instead of using the root version? I'm scare of bricking my tablet. Thank you.

Are you 100% stock? If so, just go to Settings - About - Check for update and it should update.

If you want to do it manually, download the latest version from the ASUS Website (check to make sure you have the proper version, WW, US, JP, DE, etc.). Unzip the file 1 time (it will still be a .zip). Rename this file to EP_UPDATE.zip. Place on the top level directory of a microSD card formatted for FAT32 and reboot.

Please, be aware that RR is not fixed in .24. No SOD, though.

I'm not sure if I'm using the stock or not, it was the link from the 1st page the 5 parts mediator files for honeycomb.
