    Battery Drain after ICS upgrade

Before the ICS upgrade could go several days on a battery charge. I could let it sit overnight with no usage and the battery would only go down a couple of percentage points. Now after the ICS upgrade my battery will go from a full charge to 5% overnight with no usage. I have not added any apps or done anything different to it since the ICS upgrade.
What is causing the battery drain now? Is anybody else having this problem?

    Thanks,
    Tom

Hey Tom, just wondering if you've tried a "cold reboot"? I noticed with HC that I occasionally had keyboard/dock issues that kept CPU use high -- the cold reboot appeared to help (e.g., I'm guessing it might clear the Dalvik cache). If you haven't already, you should give it a try...do you know the steps?

    Sure, it goes like this:

    - Power the tablet down
    - Hold the Volume-Down and the Power buttons
    - When you see small text in the upper left corner, release both buttons

After a moment, you'll see two icons midscreen -- and then after a 10-second countdown, the text will indicate an automatic cold-boot. You could (but I wouldn't!!!) press the Volume-Down button, which toggles between cold-boot and data-wipe. The Volume-Up key selects either mode, but like I noted the process defaults to cold-boot and so you don't have to do anything after releasing the Volume/Power buttons.

I should also note I'm a big fan of SystemPanel (https://market.android.com/details?i...systempanel.r1). There's a free version, but I finally relented and paid $2.99 for the full app, which allows you to track app resource (CPU) use for a week. It's a handy tool not only for looking under the hood, but also especially for tracking down misbehaving apps!

OK....I did a cold boot. I am charging it up and will see what happens. I will look at SystemPanel, sounds like it may help me.
    Thanks for the help Matt.

I noticed after my ICS upgrade that the tab had reverted back to keeping WiFi on all the time, even if the screen was off on battery. I've toggled this back off to see if it helps my battery life

If it was keeping wifi running that would do it. The radio uses a lot of juice.

    All - upgrades 101

With a significant OS update such as this, issues are a certainty. If the settings or apps you were used to using before are not behaving the same after the update. DO A HARD RESET.

Then, check your sleep & wifi settings, apps that run in the background, widgets that you use, social network apps that run in the background etc etc. Pretend this was day 1 of you owning your tablet & go through the setup process again if you are having issues. It will work if you put the work in
