    ICS for Slider

According to ASUS North America's fb page, ICS update is in the works but no release date yet.

I hope it will arrive soon for you but it is pretty good anyway is it not?

We get an upgrade, then we want the next one, and the next one after that and so on.

I love my TF-101 as it is, but the ICS upgrade may be nice, but I will still do the same stuff with it!

Not a life changer to me!

Asus' web site mentions "4.0 upgradeable" under Firmware, so I'd imagine it should be downloadable any day now.

With the users who are having random reboots (which sources point to one of three things, apps, firmware or NVidia Driver issue) it may be better to wait. The NVidia driver issue is a big pain since there is no easy fix for it.

ASUS may be waiting on the slider until they can get the Tegra 2 driver perfect. Keep in mind, the NVidia driver issue does not affect all tablets, just some.

I got ICS on my TF101 and it has improved the experience, but it is not mind blowing IMO. Gingerbread -> ICS is a huge leap, but HC -> ICS is just a step.

If improving the Tegra/nvidia performance for ICS is the reason they are still waiting to release it for the Slider, then that's OK with me. If they are dragging their feet since the Slider is the least successful tablet in their line, then shame on them. I can understand the need to prioritize bug-fix efforts for the Prime and anything else new that is coming out soon, but my slider doesn't look much different than my original Transformer, and of course the Transformer already has ICS. The code can't be horribly different.

Just for kicks, I jammed the ICS firmware for the TF101 into my sl101 and lo and behold it works perfectly. I have not found a single thing that's wrong with it. Therefore, I am at loss as to why it's taking asus so long to bring ICS to the slider.

I was waiting for you to post about that since you have the TF and the SL.

I know some of the custom ROMs have a "slider compatibility pack" but I am not sure what exactly that is for.

Not sure either. I've never had any compatibility problem. Internal hardware wise (the stuff that matter anyway), the TF and the SL are identical. I've been jaming both custom and stock roms of the TF into the slider, and so far not a single hitch.

So, again, don't know why asus is taking so long for the slider.

    Added by edit.

FYI, I no longer have a slider. Just shipped it to my sister. Got it almost new (open box) for $230 + $10 shipping (HA!).

    Deal hunting is fun.

So, if you have a slider and you want to use ICS right now, just do the following.

    (1) Go to the following website.

ASUS - Eee- ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101

    (2) Choose android.

    (3) Download the latest WW/US/TW/etc. version of ICS there.

    (4) Unzip that file. Inside, you will probably find a folder called update. Inside that folder, you will find another zip file. Keep this zip file.

    (5) Change its name to EP101_SDUPDATE.zip and place this file in the root of your micro sdcard.

    (6) Put micro sdcard into TF.

    (7) Turn off TF.

    (8) Power on by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons at the same time.

    (9) Once you see some texts on the upper left hand corner of the tablet, release the buttons and immediately press the volume up button.

    (10) Watch your tablet upgrade itself to ICS.

Once ICS officially comes out for the slider, repeat this process but use the official ICS for the slider firmware.
