General issues with TFs, (with ICS/JB) may be apps.

I have noticed some problems that people are having with their Transformers and different problems after the ICS and JB upgrades. Both did seem to fix some problems people were having but I'm pretty certain, that some of the crashing problems can be traced to apps for those who have ICS or Jelly Bean.

I have been getting 1-6 app updates a day and at 161 apps I don't have as many as some people. I don't have any of my apps set to auto update in the background because one of the great things about the Android Market is that the devs need to specify the changes.

The majority of the changes for the recent apps are, not in any specific order:

Make compatible with 4.0 or 4.1x (that would be ICS or JB)
Fix bugs. Nearly every one says fix or fixed bug.
    Fix force close when (whatever)
    Fix multiple bugs, (oh great)
    Fix compatibility when (whatever)
    Fix crashing etc.

What's even worse is that in browsing apps on the Market some show up as needing an update that never appeared in the list of apps to be updated. (this has actually been an issue for some time along with a problem that it will continue to show an up-datable app in the list even after updating a a week or more prior.

This is important, some, (most) of the crashing issues clear up after a factory reset, until apps get installed again and sometimes don't come back, possibly because newer versions were installed the second time that had the bug fixes. The fact that the system is stable with no additional apps installed indicates that one or more apps were the cause of the crashes.

My STRONG suggestion to anyone getting a Transformer is to use it for a couple days without installing anything if possible to see if it is having issues. Do not install beta anything, be very cautious about installing any additional live widgets or live wallpaper.

It only takes one poorly designed buggy app to cause the entire TF to bug out. Do hard resets if something doesn't appear just right and try to power down once a day until you feel things are stable. Then try one app at a time.

I know this sounds unreasonable to some but it will be the only way to isolate the systems that have problems because of the apps from those that have hardware issues.

I did a Factory Reset tonight and so far it has corrected the stock launcher from crashing! It did not fix my HDMI out issue but hopefully a new cable will next week!

With the ICS update I can no longer get a signal on my TV. It just says no signal. I went ahead and ordered a second cable to make sure that my cable didn't just crap out! Wouldn't that be quite a coincidence

That would be my luck. I am just glad that Asus used a micro HDMI port on the prime because that is what my Droid X uses so I only have to carry around one cable instead of 2. I hope its just the cable it sucks to have to send you tab back over something that work before the update and now doesn't after the update.

Definition of update - to make better, upgrade not downgrade.

It just plain suck when we get an UPDATE and it only makes it worse. My GPS was working better before the 2nd ICS update. The one that was supposed to make GPS better lol.

So, should I update to ICS?
